Our Baby Has A Baby Book!

Grandma Laura sent us a baby book for Mel's birthday (what else would one want upon turning 30?!).  It is adorably cute and has add-ins for Jewish holidays and two-mom families (props to G-ma for being so thoughtful about that!).

It's profound really, writing in a baby book that you know your kid will look at one day....reflecting on the trends and ways of today and our thoughts as we enter parenthood....documented in such a time capsule.  Today, in looking to fill our baby book with mementos of the times, we found out that the United States Postal Service no longer distributes stamps with the cost written on them (we were told you can order them online in a 'collector's addition')...only 'Forever' stamps, which freeze the cost for all time....we could use our 45 cent stamps in 2063...what a deal!

How many other items that we place in our baby book or use daily now will be obsolete by the time our kid reads this book?  Will our kid laugh at the mention of the i-Pad?  Or the brand name Apple at all?  Will Zipcar be our way out of the city in 2025?  Will Twitter be around?  Facebook?  It seems impossible now for any of these things to cease to exist....but where is Napster?  Friendster?  WaMu?  TWA?  Tower Records?  Weird.
