Language Abounds
More than anything else (trains and shapes are close behind), Amichai is obsessed with letters. Of all kinds.
Enjoying Fall as a Family of 3

Ready.
Today Shayna is 34 weeks pregnant with our second child. Lots has happened in preparation...birth kits purchased, newborn diapers laid out, bottles sterilized, letters to our baby written, name picked out. But what has felt particularly profound in this process of preparation is the piece of it that we have not consciously initiated--There was a time when Mama, Ema and Amichai felt like a whole. it was a short time when that was meant to be, just us three. Our baby love is growing in Shayna's belly now, minimizing the space left inside, and meanwhile the space in our hearts and lives grow for her on the outside. Suddenly, we are taking on an entirely new shape, as though our family was never actually whole until she arrives. There is a space for her emotionally and spiritually already, ready to be physically filled in just a few weeks. It is a bizarre and awesome evolution.
Ami's first day of school-Learning Together!
Amichai started his first day of school at Rodeph Sholom today. He rocked it. He ran off the elevator as soon as we arrived and never looked back--played and sang songs and climbed and snacked and cleaned up--loved every minute of it!!
More pics to come...
Traditional Yom Kippur garb
Not only was Ami dressed in all white for Yom Kippur services, he refused to wear his leather shoes and requested his sneakers instead!
Opa and Mia visit!
It is incredible to see the transformation of Amichai's mind from only functioning in short term memory to a growing long term memory. One of the greatest parts about this cognitive growth is his ability to remember his grandparents, who he doesn't see in his daily life. Watching Amichai run to opa and Mia, calling out their names, when they first arrived in Brooklyn, was one of the more heartwarming moments of parenthood. This was by far the best bonding time they have ever had, and makes us so excited for the years ahead.
Tot Shabbat pics
Amichai and I have been going to weekly tot Shabbat services, and he happily poses for pictures whenever he gets dressed up and knows he looks cute. Such a ham.
On a side note from his sense of style, it has been so amazing to start to expose him to jewish communal life and prayer. Nothing like seeing your son booty shake to the barechu.
