School year ends, summertime fun begins!

Last week marked the end of a year of play and learning in Learning Together at Rodeph Sholom.  Next year, Ami will head to PS47, a plan that has been in the works for some time now, and we finally just got approval!  PS47 is a public dual-language school (a NYC phenomenon with dozens of different schools teaching dozens of different second languages in full immersion format) in Gramercy Park (downtown Manhattan) that teaches immersion English and ASL.  Ami will be in an integrated class with ten to twelve kids.  The school population is about 20-30% deaf/HH kids, 30-40% hearing children with one or more deaf parents, and the rest rad New Yorkers who want their kids to learn sign language!  It is an incredible community for us to join, with all kinds of families, and different combinations of hearing and deaf members of the family.  We are SO excited.

Here are some pictures of Ami's last day of school at Rodeph Sholom, a classroom where he has grown so much this year, and where he feels so at home.

SCHOOOOOOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER!!!
